Training Camp Update: Guard Megan Duffy
Today, we’re talking to guard Megan Duffy. Duffy comes into New York’s Training Camp with WNBA experience, after spending two seasons in a Lynx uniform.
How has Camp been going so far?
I think as a
team, we’ve been making strides and progress from day one. The coaches are
throwing in more offensive sets into our routine. And they’re making sure we
grasp all the offensive concepts and that we’re solid defensively.
Are you the kind of player that sets goals every day or more so for Camp
and the pre-season overall?
As a point guard, I set goals each day. And I
set them based on what I’m hearing from the coaches about what I need to work
on. I find that it’s important not to get too far head and just focus from
practice to practice. The point guard wants to get in there and run the floor,
make sure everyone’s in correct spots and then set the tone on defense.
Do you have a favorite part of
practice?
Anything that’s competitive. Something we’ve gone
through recently has been the shell defense. I enjoy that. Really, anytime
there’s competition, it’s always fun.
How many of your team-mates did you know before coming into
Camp?
I played USA Basketball with Jess [Davenport] and met Cat
[Kraayeveld] when we played overseas a couple of years back – when she was in
Belgium and I was in Wales. I also know Lisa [Willis] through USA Basketball.
And through college, because of the Big East, I know Kia [Wright] and Essence
[Carson].
Have you had a chance to explore New York
yet?
Not a whole lot, but I have been to the mall. I’m excited
to go into the city soon.
You’ve been to The Garden before as an opponent, what did you
think of playing there?
It’s definitely my favorite place to
play. It has tradition, and the atmosphere is great.
