"Coach Klop" Checks In From Storm Training Camp

The Storm has now finished its first week of training camp, and the team continues with high-intensity two-a-day practices with a strong emphasis on pressure defense and establishing a good running game.

Bird
Many of the Storm's "true rookies" are contributing greatly to a vigorous, energetic camp.

Sue Bird is proving to be an excellent floor leader who finds the open player on the break and in the half court set. She is also improving her defensive skills, has a "nose for the ball" and picks up a lot of loose balls with her quick hands.

Another rookie that has shown she can compete at the WNBA level is Felicia Ragland from Oregon State. She can get to the hoop and finish as well as spot up behind the line and hit the three-ball. A quick defender with great anticipation, she will fit in well with the Storm’s pressure "D," uptempo "O" approach this year.

Lucienne Berthieu and Takeisha Lewis are taking no prisoners in the paint and have shown a willingness to hit the boards ferociously. The Storm paint is no place for the meek in this camp!

One major surprise this year is undrafted rookie free agent Crystal Givens from Long Beach State. Her high-energy defense and physical style of play have turned a few heads. In one camp scrimmage, she blocked three shots in five minutes that lead to baskets for her team.

The youthful energy and desire to improve exemplified by the Storm "true rookies" have helped make this year's camp the most competitive and intense of all in the three-year history of the Storm.
