Storm Waive Lovelace

SEATTLE (April 17, 2002) -- The Seattle Storm today requested waivers on forward Stacey Lovelace, Storm General Manager & Head Coach Lin Dunn announced.

Lovelace, 27, played the last two seasons with the Storm, averaging 3.9 points and 2.9 rebounds in 45 career games. The Storm acquired her as a free agent on June 8, 2000.

The 6-4 forward was an Associated Press Honorable Mention All-American in 1995-96 at Purdue University. She was named the 1995 Big 10 Player of the Year.

The Storm has the first overall pick in the 2002 WNBA Draft Friday, April 19. The first round of the draft will be broadcast on ESPN2. All four rounds will be carried live on NBA.comTV and on the internet at WNBA.com.

The Storm's third season in the WNBA begins Thursday, May 30 when Seattle hosts the New York Liberty at KeyArena.
